Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a percentage of a number?
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. So 15% of 80 is 80 × 15 ÷ 100 = 12. The calculator does it as you type.
How do I remove VAT from a price?
Divide the gross price by 1 plus the VAT rate. At 22% VAT, a €122 price is €122 ÷ 1.22 = €100 net, so the VAT is €22.
How much should I tip?
A common range is 10–15% of the bill where tipping is customary. Enter the bill and rate to see the tip and the total per person.
